Our Backstory - Roots in Twillingate

We’re a small, family-run business with some big dreams. The idea for our business came from our love for this incredible little cove—and the desire to share it with you.

But honestly, our story started here years ago. Our family’s been part of Twillingate for generations. Dad was a lighthouse keeper, Mom worked at the local post office (and probably knew everyone on the island), and over time we opened a little shop where our kids spent their summers helping out and meeting people from around the world.

For more than 30 years, we came back every summer, always drawn to the beauty of this place and the feeling of belonging it gives us. Not long ago, we decided it was time to move back for good—and honestly, we are so happy to be home.

Our dogs played a big part in this too—they absolutely love it here. Watching them run wild and free in nature reminded us how special it is to experience this place with the ones you love (four-legged ones included). That’s why some of our stays are pet-friendly—because we know how important those shared adventures are.

Twillingate still takes our breath away with its dramatic coastlines, scenic trails, and warm, welcoming people. We think Wild Cove Retreats adds something a little different—and we hope it helps you enjoy this magical corner of Newfoundland in a way that’s relaxing, fun, and a little unforgettable.
